The first thing you should do in this process is to remove the current light switch plates from the wall. You can do this easily with a screwdriver. You don’t need to worry about shutting off the electricity when removing the plate either.
You’ll need to shop for a picture frame that will fit around the switch plate. Whether it’s a single, double or triple switch, you’ll need to find a frame that will fit around the plate. Making the New Switch Plates
Once you have all your supplies including your frames, you can attach the frame to the switch plates. Place the plates behind the frame, so you can lay the plate flat on the wall. Allow the glue to dry fully before moving on to the next part of the project. It makes sense to glue all the plates and frames at the same time so they can dry together.
After the glue has dried, you can spray paint the entire frame and plate to one uniform color. If you’d like to leave it one color, you’re done. Wait for the paint to dry and attach the switch plate back on the wall.
If you’d like a more ornate frame, you can now paint the edges in gold, cover the entire frame in bright pink or add your embellishments depending on the theme of the room. Once you’ve added color and bling, you should let it dry before screwing the plate back on the wall.
