Calling 911 is what most of us have been trained to do in the event of an emergency. However, you only have seconds to act if there is an emergency. The good news is there is a new app that will help keep people safe.
The app is known as OnCamera, and it can be downloaded on your phone. People who sense that they are in danger can turn on the app, and an officer will intervene. The officer will watch the whole scene.
Even though the officer will not be there physically, people will still have extra security. If a potential attacker sees an officer on the phone, then he or she will likely flee. OnCamera is currently being funded by donors. It will be free for a limited amount of time.
There is a video advertising OnCamera. It shows a young woman walking to her car. She is being followed by a man. She turns around and shows the man that he is on camera. The police officer tells the man that his face and location have been recorded. The video also points out that it can take 10 to 20 minutes for someone to respond to an emergency call.
