Another child is dead as the result of negligent parenting. A mother in Crossville, Tennessee left her four children in the car while she went inside a building to pay a bill.
The children discovered a loaded pistol inside of the mother’s purse. An eight year-old boy tried to unload the gun and ended up discharging it in the process. He accidentally shot his seven year-old brother in the head.
The boy was taken to the University of Tennessee’s Medical Center. He died shortly after he was taken to the hospital. The Department Of Children’s Services are currently investigating this case. The boy is the 815th person to die due to gun violence since the year 2016 began. Additionally, nine more people have died due to gun violence since this incident occurred.
President Obama has issued an executive order that will hopefully curb gun violence in the United States. It is also important for people to reevaluate the roles that guns play in their lives. There are many people who have died as the result of legally-owned guns. If things do not change, then more people will die because of gun violence. Many of these people will be small children.
