Kentucky Fire Chief Refuses To Help Black Family in Traffic Accident, His Reason Makes Me Sick

If you can’t depend on a firefighter (that’s on the clock) to help you in a time of need, then who can you rely on. This was the case for motorist in need of assistance after a car wreck. When Bullitt, Kentucky – Fire Chief, Julius Hartfield was asked for guidance regarding the assistance of an African-American family – at the scene of an automobile collision. His response was, “we ain’t taking no n*ggers.”

His comments were in stark contrast, to the support, and assistance the white motorists involved in the crash received. The audio of the Chief’s remarks were picked up on the body cam of the officer making the inquiry. The deputy essentially complied with the Chief’s orders and instructed the motorist to contact AAA motor club for assistance.

Apparently, Hartfield does not single out African-Americans as targets for racist remarks. When an Asian-American reporter, Valerie Chinn, inquired Hartfield at a public town meeting – regarding the fire department’s financial management issues. His immediate response to her was “do you understand english?” Upon pressing Hartfield to stay on topic, he repeated his insensitive remarks.

As she maintained her composure, he escalated, and asked Chinn to turn off the cameras and threatened to have her arrested. Hartfield, later apologized to Chinn over the phone, and claims he did not recall making the statements about the African-American motorist. However, his behavior suggests that he is not fit to have an occupation funded by tax payer dollars – especially one that involves public safety.
