A Reddit user in England recently moved into an apartment that was converted from an old monastery. With fresh paint, high ceilings, and a loft, the space seemed perfect for a young bachelor. After moving in, something seemed peculiar.
There was what looked like a trap door in the floor outside the bathroom. It had been polished to look just like the rest of the floor, so it was not immediately noticed upon initial inspection of the apartment. When the man lifted the gold latch on the trap door, he found a seemingly innocent storage space containing paints and tools and other odds and ends.
A closer look revealed stairs leading into darkness. Gathering his courage, a camera, and a flashlight, the Reddit user carefully descended the stairs into the unknown. Below his new apartment, he found a brick-lined room, reminiscent of a dungeon from a horror film.
From there, other hatches were discovered leading to secret tunnels and more scary rooms. Recent graffiti on a wall of one room suggests that people have recently been in these secret rooms and tunnels, leading the new tenant to feel apprehensive about staying in his new apartment.
Until the secret door can be sealed, will he be able to sleep? Should the secret dungeon have been disclosed in the lease?
