His Painting Wasn’t Special Until He Made One Strange Move And then It Blew Everyone Away

D. Westry of Columbus, Georgia can paint and he can paint really fast. At an appearance on the Anderson Cooper show, Westry claimed he could make a quality painting in a minute and a half of less as part of a talent showcase contest complete with Anderson Cooper on the judging panel.

Westry started off by applying seemingly random white splotches to a black colored canvas while the audience and judging panel tried to grasp what the painting was going to look like. After quite a few seconds ticked off, he added some orange colored paint to the work. As his time ran out, the painting looked very abstract and didn’t clearly represent anything.

The audience clapped politely at the finished work, but there was an obvious sense of disappointment and bewilderment coming from those in the studio. He stepped back from the painting for a second before he stepped back to it and turned it upside down on the easel used for holding the canvas. An audible gasp and loud clapping then erupted from the studio audience when the realized he painted a perfect likeness of Anderson Cooper upside down.

It’s truly amazing the talent that Westry showed off. Not only can he paint fast, he knows how to work a crowd too. It’s also a great example of just how much can come from using so little. Here’s hoping Mr. Westry will enjoy all kinds of success in his chosen career. We can’t wait to see more of his work.
