Anti-gay activist pretends to be black to win election

An electrician in Houston won the election for Houston Community College Board of Trustees after pretending to be African American.

Wilson sent out one flyer for his campaign that had the faces of many African Americans with the caption, “Please vote for our friend and neighbor Dave Wilson.”

The trickery began when one flyer stated that Wilson was endorsed by Ron Wilson, a former African American state representative. However, the real Ron Wilson he was referring to was his cousin, from Iowa. Wilson openly admits that he fooled voters. “[e]very time a politician talks, he’s out there deceiving voters,” he claims.

Wilson’s previous stunt was distributing homophobic flyers around while running for mayor against his gay opponent, Annise Parker. It included a photo of the mayor with her partner with the caption that read, “IS THIS THE IMAGE HOUSTON WANTS TO PORTRAY?” He was unsuccessful in that election.
