After 2 Decades, U2 Frontman Bono Finally Reveals the Why He Always Wears Sunglasses Inside

Almost everyone is familiar with the rock group U2 and its lead singer Bono. After all, the band has been performing to sold out crowds for decades. However, he just recently revealed the reason that he always wears sunglasses. Many people have undoubtedly wondered why he has always had a tendency to wear sunglasses, even when he is indoors.

Many fans have undoubtedly written it off over the years as being cool or just expressing himself as a rock star. However, there is a very tangible reason why he always wears sunglasses and in a recent interview, he revealed the reason to the general public. He revealed that for more than 20 years, he has suffered from a disease known as glaucoma.

Glaucoma is a disease where the pressure in the optic nerve behind the eye tends to rise beyond normal levels, sometimes rising to the point where it causes nerve damage which can result in permanent blindness. Many people that suffer from the disease are exceptionally sensitive to light and this is the reason that he has always made a point to wear sunglasses.

It turns out that it has nothing to do with being cool or even being a rock star. Instead, Bono is merely trying to regulate the amount of light that is filtered into his eyes. During the interview, Bono also assured his fans that he has always received excellent medical care for the condition and that it is under control. However, do not expect him to remove his trademark sunglasses any time soon.
